The Safe Community Project has earned an important wildfire grant, managed by the California Fire Safe Council via funding from CalFire. This important grant will see our Los Angeles Division, MySafe:LA engage with homeowner’s associations, first responders, elected officials, and others to collaborate and share information, training, and home hardening efforts designed to reduce the risk from wildfire.
The grant supports the public/private partnership between the LAFD and MySafe:LA called the “Los Angeles Wildfire Resilience Alliance.” The LAFD provides key leadership in the general arena of wildfire, not only via its multi-faceted resources, but it’s brush clearance unit, and engaged Community Resilience Officers, who are working side-by-side with MySafe:LA public safety members. FF/EMT Luis Fierro, a key member of the MySafe:LA unit is the designated “wildfire coordinator,” and will be supported by multiple other members on our team.
