The Safe Community Project will launch a new initiative, MySafe:California (MySafe:CA) in the fall of 2014. “MySafe:California will share resources for anyone living in the state,” David Barrett, Managing Director of The Safe Community Project Stated. “It’s an opportunity to help redefine how fire prevention and life safety awareness are shared with citizens and first responders.”

The web ecosystem will offer Californians an opportunity to share their own experiences, share local information, and to gain access to fire and life safety information and resources. “After a disaster, there is plenty of money to repair and rebuild,” Barrett stated. “Our goal is to get communities involved before disasters, so the eventual toll and cost are reduced.”

Individuals may access the site for free, and once registered, will be able to download escape plans, safety inventory cards, help placards, and other materials. There will be a suite of online courses in family safety and preparedness, including interactive quizzes, animations, and videos. Additional online resources, videos, and other materials will be available.

First responders may also register their agencies for free. Once enrolled, fire departments may access public safety information that may be organized into presentations or programs for delivery in their communities. Print materials may be customized for a small fee.

The Safe Community Project is the parent non-profit organization for successful fire and life safety programs including MySafe:LA.
